Factotum is the only letting agency in Edinburgh to have a *live* property database available on the web. The database you browse and search on this site is hosted from our own office. This gives us the ability to provide 100% up-to-date information on our web site. As a property becomes available it shows immidiately on the web site. As soon as properties become available, they are instantly available here

Our Property Letting Website:

The database we use in the office is FileMaker Pro, which runs over our local network and is hosted on a local server. This in-turn pipes query responses to our web server (Mac OS X Server with Apache) which passes the XML database output to the front end which is written in PHP. The FileMaker XML parsing is handled by a class called FX.php.

Development

Our whole system (including this website) is designed, developed and maintained by Factotum Technical Services, our new IT offshoot.
